Studentu Savaitgalis

So the stress of planning this wonderful event for a month and a half is finally over. For those of you who aren't Lithuanian, this might be a little hard to explain. I'm currently president of this group called "Ateitininkai" which is a Catholic Lithuanian organization founded during the Russian occupation of Lithuania in the early mid 20th century. Basically it stresses 5 principles of Catholocism, education, family values, national pride, and improving society. There are 4 subgroups consisting of grade schoolers, high school folk, college/graduate level, and those out of school with families. I'm in charge of the college/graduate level sect for the entire US.

This weekend was definitely the most successful one yet. I created a relaxed, yet serious atmosphere (well maybe not that serious). My uncle was the keynote speaker talking about his 3 volume book "1941" which addressed all the atrocities the Russians committed to Lithuania in that year. Pretty gruesome stuff. Then we had some discussion groups later on in the day about our organization "ateitininkai" based on this survey which over 250 ateitininkai filled out over the summer.

So much for the serious stuff. The evening program was everybody dressing like rock stars for dinner. Some highlights: Andrius Mikaila squeezed into size 29 pants that were so tight on him, he couldn't bend his knees. He farted and said he felt the bubble of air travel down his leg because it had nowhere to escape to. Mike Juska dressed up as a kick ass rocker from the 70's with a quadruple neck guitar.
The bonfire for that evening was no smaller than 20 feet. Beer and festivities prevailed. Smoked a couple of cigars because I deserved it. I'm just thrilled that my midterms are over and done with.
